St Patricks Day 2016

Hey Guys!

I wanted to pop in with a fun weekend recap because this past weekend was a BLAST! About a month ago Brent had the idea to rent an Air B&B in Chicago for St Patricks Day weekend and invite a bunch of friends. Well out idea became reality and we met up with a bunch of our friends for a weekend of festivities!

Friday night we all made our way to the city to meet up at the condo. Brent, my friend Katie from college & her boyfriend all drove in together while I took the metro after work. As I waited for the train I got a text from Katie with this picture…

St Patricks Day 2016

Brent & PJ fixing the flat!

And the caption “totally got a flat” thankfully Brent & PJ were able to change the flat safely and not get hit by any of the cars flying by. Not too long after the text from Katie the train pulled up to the station and I made my way to get on…

Well after trying 4 cars, yanking on the doors with none of them opening, the train pulled away leaving me there in awe of what just happened… Thankfully my friend Megan, who drove me to the station after work, hadn’t left yet and was able to drive me to a different station to get the next train. I had to wait about an hour but I was able to get the next train to the city¬†and met up with the group at dinner before they even ordered!

We made our way back to the condo after a very late dinner and the 8 of us hung out had a few drinks and talked about everything and nothing before hitting the hay. Since Saturday morning we were planning on getting up bright and early.

St Patricks Day 2016

Gorgeous sun rise!!

Saturday started with this BEAUTIFUL view from the condo before we all got dressed and had a St Patty’s toast before heading to Bull & Bear.

We had bought tickets for the Bull & Bear Top Of The Mornin St Patricks day party which started at 8. I cannot tell you the last time I went out drinking starting at 8am, and can tell you that the next time I do won’t be for a veryyyyyy long time ūüėČ Our tickets to Bull & Bear included drinks & brunch food so we found a spot near the bar and congregated there for the next 4 hours! We danced, sang to the songs and drank our little hearts out #balance ūüėČ

At noon we headed outside and met up with 4 of our friends who opted out of Bull & Bear and grabbed lunch at Lou Malnati’s. After lunch we all went back to the condo to recoup a bit from our 4hour drinking escapades with some Cards Against Humanity!¬†Once we recovered we headed down to the river front to see the green river and take some pictures, because well thats the point right! We said goodbye to a couple friends who had to head back home and then went back to relax some more before grabbing dinner.

St Patricks Day 2016

Chris, Kristina, Me, Brent, Kaley & Ryan at the river!

I forgot how hard it is to go H.A.M first thing in the morning and then continue to party the rest of the day, we all were pretty much done¬†at 2pm so relaxing, hydrating and napping sounded wonderful! We definitely aren’t 21 any more ūüėõ

St Patricks Day 2016 St Patricks Day 2016

After a while we decided to get dinner and made reservations at a sushi place down the road. Brent & PJ opted out of going as they both were exhausted and not feeling the best, so Ryan, Kaley, Katie & I headed out together for the BEST sushi experience of our lives.

If you are ever in the Fulton River District of Chicago you should definitely check out Tanoshii Sushi and splurge on Omakase tasting menu. You will not be disappointed and it is definitely worth the cost. We were treated to a multi-course meal and honestly each course was better than the one before. Since none of us really knew what was being put down in front of us, they told you but quickly, we made Ryan taste everything first and tell us what it was like before Katie, Kaley or I would try it. After a while we were laughing because Ryan would say “Thats the BEST one yet!” to almost everything he tried, and he wasn’t wrong!

St Patricks Day 2016St Patricks Day 2016

After dinner the 4 of us walked back to the condo in a sushi euphoria and settled in for a night of watching My Strange Addiction and seriously relaxing! It was the perfect ending to a fun day.

Most of the Gang!

Most of the Gang!

I am so glad that we have great friends who are up to coming and celebrating with us. It was so much fun to all get together and spend a weekend pretending that we were 21 again!

Weekending XVI

Hi Friend! Its another Monday & another Weekending update. These are some of my favorite posts to write and reflect on the week/weekend.

A very lazy weekend went down over here and honestly it did the body good. Sometimes it’s good to just sit back, relax and do nothing!¬†For the first time in a long time we had ZERO plans for the weekend, except the usual weekend tasks, and it was fantastic!

Friday night we went to the gym, did a great full body workout & put some sumo deadlifts back into my programming which were seriously difficult considering I haven’t been doing them regularly in foreverrrr.

After the gym we headed to the grocery store to get the basics for the week. Brent & I have returned to focusing on macro’s (macronutrients) and structuring our meals around a specific macro goal. We cycle in and out of counting macros when we feel like our bodies need a boost, we both are feeling a bit “fluffy” right now and just want to drop some of the fluff to look as strong/healthy as we feel!

Saturday was the ultimate¬†couch potato day. We got up made breakfast and then lounged with the intention of letting breakfast digest and going to the gym… Then we started watching House… A marathon of House and before I knew it I looked at the clock and it was 4:30…. WHAT THE WHAT!?!?

We headed to Costco & then had an impromptu date night at Pei Wei, I hadn’t been in forever & it was a nice cheat meal, followed by some Fro-Yo because it was right next door and we couldn’t say no! We ended the night watching the proposal and continuing to be lazy bums…

Sunday started a bit slower as well, but when I got up I was UP & got straight to work. Sunday is meal prep day and that’s exactly what I did… I mixed a Spark, made & ate breakfast and then spent about 3.5 hours chopping, baking and measuring out food.

The nice thing about being macro conscious is that meals take less time to prep, there’s usually only one or two steps and not a lot of ingredients. The not so nice aspect is that measuring out the food (& being precise) takes a lot more time than casually scooping 1/2 cup here or there into bowls. But 3.5 hours is pretty typical and I was done before 2!

We relaxed a bit before getting to the gym where I STRUGGLED through a cardio workout. I haven’t done prolonged interval training in a long time, Tuesday I did 15second intervals, but Sunday I did 2 minutes at a fast pace & 4 minute recovery. I did my work rate at a 7:20pace and then recovered at a 12:00 pace (which was a fast walk) I did 6 rounds of this and you guys I was dying when on the treadmill. I don’t know if it’s because my legs are super sore or what but man it was a hard workout. I spent some time rolling out my legs before hitting the bar and doing some pull up negatives.

Sunday night we prepped turkey burgers for the week and ate them for dinner. I love turkey burgers, it’s been a delicious addition to our meals and makes me think of summer!!!

What did you guys do this weekend? Anyone else have a super lazy one like us?

Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week!

A Weekend Workout!

This 20minute treadmill workout will work up a sweat &
you’ll burn tons of calories without running a step!

Happy Monday Friends!

This was the last weekend for a while where we didn’t have anything on the books and we took good advantage of the RELAXation part of the weekend. We have really enjoyed the past 6 weeks without traveling and getting to see friends and do things around Chicago but I am getting¬†really excited for the fall and football! I am not super excited about driving multiple weekends in a row but HEY you take the good with the not so good!

Anyway’s this weekend started dreadfully slow… We woke up on saturday morning to roll over, turn the TV on and continue to laze for a few more hours. Honestly I made breakfast and then lounged on the couch until about 1:00 when we decided to be functioning humans.

Weekend Workout

I cannot tell you the last time my day started at 1:00 and honestly don’t know when it will happen again. While I loved getting some extra rest, my body was not very happy at my lack of moving and treated me with a mighty headache…. nothing a little caffeine and cardio couldnt fix!

I snapped my daily shaker contents while making this... make sure you follow me on snapchat for more behind the scenes!

I snapped my daily shaker contents while making this…

We decided to go to do some cardio before lunch so we walked over to the gym since it was cloudy and rainy outside. We did about 12 minutes on the stationary bike to warm up and burn a few calories. Then we decided to hit the treadmill.

Brent & I have been “enjoying” walking on the treadmill on an incline during our cardio sessions lately. We both have been having a hard time fitting cardio into our lifting and like I said in my fitness recap we have been really working to focus on adding more cardio each week.

So after our bike session we did this fun and KILLER treadmill workout, where we WALKED!!! yep no running required and you’ll still burn a¬†tonnnnn of calories in just 20 minutes.

Incline Treadmill Workout

If your treadmill doesn’t go up to 30, then just max it out and slowly decrease the incline for the first 10 minutes and then go back up the second 10 minutes.

After our cardio workout we had some lunch and went to a coffee shop for a little Barbell shrugged & photoshop work. It was a productive afternoon after a lazy morning. We ended our night with a fun shoulder lifting session at the gym.

Weekend Workout

I worked on some hang cleans & power cleans then focused on my strict press. I have been stuck at the same weight on strict press for a while so I was going to focus on my form while increasing my weight.¬†I was feeling pretty good so I decided to record myself at 85# and was able to get 2 solid reps, then I decided that I was going to try 90# & guess what y’all I GOT IT!!!!!!!! I definitely struggled when pressing it up which is super apparent but I was able to hold it together and PRESS through, resulting in a 10# PR!!!! Yep 85# would’ve been a PR so I got a 2xPR! BOOM!!!!

Weekend Workout

you can see my 90# lift on Instagram!

Sunday we did our usual Sunday stuff to get ready for the week. We have been getting to COSTCO at 9:30 because of when our church gets out so we legit sit in the parking lot for 15-20 minutes before they let us in and are almost always out before 10:10 when they technically open at 10:00. Its awesome and kind of erie at the same time. BUT NO LINES = WINNING everyday!

I have been wanting to try La Croix for a¬†longggggg¬†time but never bite the bullet, well for the past few weeks I have mentioned to Brent each week at the store that i wanted to try it. SO this week we decided to go for it. I blame him for “letting” me get it but I am just as skeptic about trying new things….

Weekend Workout

linking up with Katie for Marvelous In My Monday!

Weekend Workout

The verdict… La Croix + Spark (or La Croix + Rehydrate) = AMAAAZINGGG!!! Its like having a POP without all the crap… I have missed the carbonation more than I knew I did, and its a nice treat!

When I was food prepping I turned the TV to ABC Family and it was the start of Twilight. I have never seen or had the desire to see any of the series but I have to admit the first movie was pretty good & definitely kept me interested when i was cooking!

To finish my sunday I got a phone call to do some “impromptu babysitting”… well actually I got a FaceTime from my step-mom, who I really thought was accidentally FaceTiming me, and when I answered i saw my baby niece cooing away! It was a fun little 5 minute chat with the babe & my parents while they were babysitting for my sister & brother in law. I haven’t seen that lil girl in almost a month and am definitely in need of a baby fix!

Weekend Workout

p.s don’t mind that I look super hit in the picture… I did it for the baby!¬†

Hope you all have a great start to your week and the Holiday Weekend!!!

Treat Yourself Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!!!

I am happy to say that the relaxation restful period post-wedding has completely ended. The Bells are back to long weekends of driving and very full weekend schedules! Yesterday was a blur after a morning spark and an afternoon spark I think the clouds cleared and my head finally became clear enough to realize that while this past weekend was exhausting it was filled with tons of fun treats!

Treat Yourself Tuesday

So since its Treat Yourself Tuesday lets get to them! Make sure you head over to Becky’s blog and checkout all the other treats that are going on this Tuesday!

Backing up to Monday of last week we got a HUGE treat of our wedding photographer sending us a link to our wedding pictures! I was so excited, distracted and in love with reliving our wedding through the pictures. Brent happily got to posting the pictures on Facebook and reading all our friends & families comments made the excitement of our wedding last longer, which is awesome.

Treat Yourself Tuesday

Yesterday when I got home I was greeted at the door by a box with our photographers stamp on it. My hands were full or I think I would’ve jumped up and down and thrown my hands in the air because I was so excited! I mean I knew what all the pictures looked like, she posted them all on her site, but I was still beyond excited to have the REAL USB in my possession. Her gorgeous, creative and fun packaging did not disappoint. I was also really shocked & excited that she included some prints of our pictures, they are¬†sooooooo¬†much better in real life than on a computer screen.

short hair = fresh start!

short hair = fresh start!

I also treated myself last week to new shampoo & conditioner…. I know boring treat but when you¬†decide to switch to¬†sulfate-free shampoo but refuse to spend $50/bottle (or $30 for a 8oz bottle!!) it becomes a really hard task. I went on a sulfate-free shampoo manhunt after my hairstylist recommended the switch to help repair my hair after getting it chopped off. I am happy to say that I landed on RUSK’s sulfate free shampoo & its matching conditioner and¬†i love it!!!! So far it has been keeping my hair feeling extremely soft, clean and healthy!

Treat yourself tuesdayBrent & I booked our official honeymoon vacation to San Francisco!! Our friend is gifting us her beautiful¬†home for the week and we are beyond excited to enjoy and explore the city together!¬†Treat yourself tuesdayFriday we headed to Michigan for a weekend of fun! Saturday night we had a family Jamesons Whiskey tasting at our house. For the wedding Brent & I gifted my dad & step mom two bottles of Jameson’s making their collection of currently full bottles 4. So we had a little blind taste test. I am¬†not a whiskey fan so my tastebuds definitely we not developed enough to determine what bottle what was coming from¬†or even to say what was a quality whiskey vs. cheap whiskey. Needless to say I didn’t like any of them but the ones I liked the most were the least expensive bottles.

Treat yourself tuesday

At dinner my sister treated me to a scrapbook from my bachelorette party! It’s awesome to have a book to reflect on the fun night I had with my friends & family before the wedding.

After our whiskey tasting we headed downtown. My dad treated us to tickets to see the Dirty Dozen & Blind Boys of Alabama perform. Both were good, I was more partial to the Dirty Dozen as the music was more upbeat and for a younger crowd. The Blind Boys were good but just not really my style. Brent & I were likely the youngest people in the crowd.

Treat yourself tuesday

Sunday morning my dad treated us to a pancake breakfast before we headed to my cousins graduation party. It was fun getting to see some of our family in a smaller group setting after the wedding. We were actually able to chat with people and have real conversations without feeling like we were being pulled in 100 directions.

Treat yourself tuesday

Sunday night we were treated to an amazing meal with my Uncle and two of his friends. My uncles friend Mark invited us to his house and we enjoyed fruit & cheese before a delicious dinner of chicken piccata, green beans & mashed potatoes. HOLY YUM!!!! The dinner and company was amazing and totally made up for us getting on the road late and getting back to Arlington Heights really late.

Treat yourself tuesday

FINALLY, yesterday I treated us to a freshly made dinner. I really was making lunches for the week, taco salads, but they smelled so good that Brent & I made ourselves a¬†huge bowl of taco salad for dinner. It was so good and so easy with really just a few fresh ingredients that made the whole difference. FYI guys fresh = best, I am sure my lunches the rest of the week won’t even compare to the dinner I ate last night!

Treat yourself tuesday

PHEW!!! That was a lot of treats for a week! I am excited about this short week and celebrating 4th of July weekend with friends this weekend.

Happy Monday!

This weekend Brent & I headed to Michigan for some quality snuggle time with my new sweet baby niece.¬†As I mentioned in my last post my sister had a baby a little over a week ago and I had been¬†itching to go snuggle that sweet bundle of love and spoil her in all the best ways possible. Which at the ripe old age of 8 days old including lots of kisses, bottom pats and ooo’s & ahhh’s.

On our way to Michigan we stopped in Indiana to go to 3Floyds Brewery. Brent was determined to get some new beer to try and since the brewery is honestly right on the way to Michigan we had to stop. The catch… We decided to stop on the weekend when they have a huge beer release festival. So the line was pretty long to the beer “kiosk” and after about 10 minutes of freezing my toosh off and not moving at all I headed back to the car to keep warm, after about 20minutes and seeing the line die down I headed back to meet up with Brent. I waited with him for about 10 more minutes before we got inside and he bought some beer. It was definitely an experience and I am sure more stops will be in our future.

Weekending XIII Weekending XIII Weekending XIII

Saturday morning Brent & I did some wedding stuff by working on our centerpieces before heading over to my sisters house for a couple hours of baby time. When we got there sweet baby J was a little fussy since she was hungry and then was battling the sleepy-eyes vs. bright-new-world battle. I could hold and snug that sweet girl all day and basically hogged her the whole time that we were there, I did give Brent a little bit of loving time. Fun Fact: Brent is terrified of little humans, he is scared of breaking them and since they can’t talk he doesn’t know what they want and that bothers him. SO he was not jumping at the snuggle time, but I forced it upon him and he didn’t want to give her up! For one she was warm and for two he was enjoying it, he might not tell you that but its true.

Weekending XIII

Because Family is Marvelous I am linking up with Katie!

Weekending XIII Weekending XIII

We said our farewells to my sister and brother in law to let them get some rest along with baby J and headed back to my parents house. My dad wanted to get the alcohol for the wedding sorted out so we headed to the liquor/wine store and bought a few bottles of red wine to taste and determine which one was the best option for our wedding guests & us!

Weekending XIII

Guttman tasting room open for business!

A few sips here and a few sips there our collection of 5 bottles was narrowed down to 2 red winners in a record time. It was nice to have my dad help make the decision with Brent & I, I think if the two of us were trying to make that choice on our own we would’ve taken 2x as long!

Weekending XIII

The red wine winners!! & the fun wine stoppers gifted to me at my shower!

After a while it was time to order dinner to pick up and go to my sisters house. It was nice to enjoy dinner with everyone and get some extra loving time with J. My sister joked about my dad entering the house and going straight for the baby because he knows that the ladies will hold her 10x longer than he will have a chance to, and it was DEFINITELY true. I hate to say I was a baby hog butttttt I definitely soaked up as much baby time as possible since it has to hold me over for the next two weeks.

Weekending XIII

A little Aunti & J selfie was a must!

We headed back home, I worked on table numbers & escort cards oh so fun while watching the Blackhawks game. It was a productive evening I was able to get a few things done on my to-do list & enjoy the game with Brent & my dad.

Sunday we lazed around the house in the morning then headed to lunch at Panera before hitting the road. Brent started loading bags into the car and I headed out to put some of the wine that we bought in the trunk…. only to find all the doors locked.

Weekending XIII

A delicious power chicken & hummus bowl for lunch! #yum

I headed back into the house to grab the keys and they were missing… Brent rounds the corner and goes “uhhh I think I locked them in the trunk!”

never a dull moment!

So we called AAA to the rescue and after a 45minute delay we were on the road and back to chicago. Sunday evening was spent just relaxing at home, catching up on Criminal Minds and rest.

Now I am off to day dream snuggling my little love muffin.

Weekending XI

Good Morning Beautiful Friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and got to spend some time doing what you like best!

Since moving to Arlington Heights Brent & I have belonged to a “global” gym that I have¬†hated¬†from day 1. It wasn’t a big deal as we were CrossFitting a few days a week so I never really went to the global gym unless absolutely necessary. Once we tapered off of CrossFit, mostly due to timing of the classes and in an effort to save $$$ for the wedding, I started to lift more with Brent at this black-hole of a gym we were lifting at. Neither of us loved it but it did the job… until I entered a different “global” gym and possibly fell in-love… with the LOBBY.

Yeah I walked in the door and liked the place just from the looks of the entrance,¬†first impressions definitely matter! So Brent did some researching and we went for a “visit” to check the gym out on Friday. Thursday night I looked at Brent and said “SO¬†what happens when you walk in and fall in love and want to get a membership right then??” and his response was “we will practice self-control and wait!!! we don’t need this right now…”¬†famous last words!¬†

Weekending XI

Friday night we had a super fun date night to check out the gym, we walked around saw all the sights then were let loose to lift on our own. Brent & I looked at each other as we were lifting and said “ahhh peaceful” it was seriously like lifting in a spa compared to where we were working out before. It was a¬†beautiful change of pace! After our workout we were sitting and chatting and Brent goes “I want it!!!!!!! Should we go sign up¬†right now???” So for ¬†ONCE I was the one who practiced self-control and made him wait and sleep on it.

Saturday I had a work event to go to in the morning, so I was up and out of the house by 8. My event was a bit of a bust so I was able to sit and chat it up with one of my coworkers and super sweet friend. We talked about everything and complained about drama, because thats what girlfriends do right?! While we both were super bummed that our event was a flop it was really nice to hang out on Saturday morning and get a jump start on my day.

Lately I have been loving this egg scramble of spinach, tomatoes and eggs. Delicious!

Lately I have been loving this egg scramble of spinach, tomatoes and eggs. Delicious!

When I got home I took Brent up on his shopping trip that he promised me a couple weeks ago so we headed out to the mall. BUT first he told me that the gym called to “sweeten the deal” so we decided that we would pack our gym bags and head there after we shopped. I didn’t find¬†anything at the mall that I could 1. Afford 2. liked. UGH I hate that!!! Nothing worse than going shopping for something you want/need and finding nothing. But I did talk Brent into buying a new pair of tennis shoes which he desperately needed!

After our shopping trip, bust, we headed to the gym and signed up for the gorgeous place that I can now call home. I am so happy to have somewhere that won’t stress me out when I enter it and that has¬†everything¬†I am looking for in terms of equipment, classes and quality. PLUS it is¬†CLEAN¬†looks & feels clean. SWEET!!!

Saturday night we headed to my friends house for a little Beer & Basketball. It was super nice to chill with some friends, play with her sweet pup and enjoy an OBERON!!!! I can’t control my excitement for this beautiful beer returning to my summer life.

Weekending XI

This morning¬†we slept in and had a lazy morning. I should say Brent slept and I caught up on this little blog. We¬†did the usual Sunday stuff including church, groceries, food prep and gym. Nothing exciting on a Sunday and I couldn’t be happier!

So thats a wrap on this little weekend over here. A super relaxed a chill one but next weekend we have a lot in store so it was nice to have one more weekend of chill before life gets a little cray again!

Hope you enjoy the start to your week!

Happy Monday!

I don’t think I am ever happy for Monday, can’t we have an extra day of the weekend… please?!?! I guess I can’t really complain about this weekend though it was just what we needed.

Friday night I hit up the new Trader Joes in our area on my way home from work to grab dinner. It’s been the¬†buzz around my clinic that the new TJ’s was going in and for good reason, it’s a really nice Trader Joes stocked with all the TJ specialties! I grabbed some salmon burgers and some fixings to make a nice Friday fish dinner.

Salmon Burger with a side of green beans!

Salmon Burger with a side of green beans!

Our romantic Friday date night included deep cleaning our apartment, vacuuming, scrubbing the floors and all the rest, for our friends who were coming over on Saturday… Nothing says romance like the overwhelming scent of Pinesol ūüėČ

Saturday we woke up and headed to the gym. Ever have one of those days at the gym when all you want to do is lift but something (usually life) gets in your head and stresses you out to the point where you cannot lift any more? Well that happened to me on Saturday. It.Was.Bad. I couldn’t focus enough to¬†safely¬†lift and I knew what I had to do. So I dropped my bag with Brent & headed out the door with my¬†metronome beeping for a run.

Weekending X

I didn’t know how far I was going to run but I knew I had to run until my head was clear, my tears were dry & my lungs-n-legs told me they were done. After about a mile I stopped, caught my breath and did some of my¬†Pose falling drills to reset my legs & get my groove back. I ended up running a 5K and I was feeling on top of the world¬†(you know when a good run does that too you?) then I got into our house & realized that¬†I LOST MY KEY! I had grabbed my house key from my keychain when I left Brent at the gym so I could get into the house when I got home, and when I got home it was¬†gone!!!¬†Brent went out and found it while I got ready as we were on a schedule.

We headed to Coopers Hawk, one of our favorite places, to meet our friends Chris & Kristina for lunch. Chris & Brent went to high school together and him & Kristina live in Rockford, so when we all were living there we became good friends. Actually they let me stay at their house a couple nights a week when I was driving back and forth for work. Well in January Chris & Kristina had a baby girl but since I have been so crazy busy with family stuff I hadn’t had chance to meet her, so they decided to come out to us for the day. It was so much fun, lunch was great, we chatted and just caught up on life.

After lunch we headed back to our place for what promised to be a riveting match of UNO! When Brent & Chris were planning out the day Chris mentioned he would bring UNO, I honestly thought it was a joke but it ended up being the highlight of the day… well besides the baby snuggles. And I did get a lot of sweet baby snuggles! Baby B was being a little bit needy since she refused to sleep, so while we played UNO we had a few baby breaks to make her happy. After a few rounds of UNO we delt a hand that ended up lasting¬†FOUR HOURS¬†before we finally were just sick of playing. There were¬†3 times when someone had an UNO but then got slammed with a 15 card draw to get a¬†red so then we were back at square one. It was intense, we moved from sitting to standing, to a few baby naps, and a few baby feeds. I don’t think Ive ever played a longer game of uno in my life¬†AND¬†stayed smiling the whole time. It was awesome!

ALL the sweet baby snuggles!!!

ALL the sweet baby snuggles!!!

We then said our goodbyes and headed out for “dinner”… Brent & I had a huge craving for something sweet, we have been trying to be¬†really good about what we eat so a dessert treat was definitely in order. So our Saturday night dinner was a delicious bowl of FroYo!!! I can’t remember the last time we went and got FroYo and it definitely didn’t disappoint.

Promise there is Yogurt under ALL THE TOPPINGS!!!

Promise there is Yogurt under ALL THE TOPPINGS!!!

Sunday was a relaxing “typical” Sunday filled with groceries, church and food prepping.¬†On our way to get groceries I was in dire need of some caffeine so we stopped at Starbucks. Brent coined a new drink name the “Dirty Oprah” when he ordered the Oprah chai tea latte with an extra shot of espresso (dirty) the baristas and us thought it was pretty funny!

The Dirty Oprah

The Dirty Oprah

I was pleasantly surprised when my veggie heavy turkey chili leftovers was enough for¬†most of our lunches this week and I didn’t have to prep anything.

Heres our super exciting meal plan for the week:
Breakfast: Egg Scrambles (Brent will eat em fried, I’ll eat em scrambled with spinach)
Lunch: Salad with deli turkey & turkey veggie chili
Dinner: Grilled Chicken & Roasted Zucchini Carrots & Mushrooms

Sunday evening we headed to the gym for a shoulders workout with our friend Rich. I usually do my own thing when Brent helps Rich workout but I wanted to do shoulders so while I sort of did my own thing at times it was nice to superset two machines and have a rest period too. After we did shoulders Rich wanted to do some legs so I decided to do a core workout. What I realized is my core is SUPER WEAK. Since moving from Rockford and having stopped GPP, mostly due to trying CrossFit & the gym that we workout at right now is not conducive to GPP (which make my heart cry!) my core workouts have significantly decreased and I have definitely felt the results.

New goal – work on your core Allison!!!¬†On a positive note…. My shoulders are on point, even Brent mentioned that they were looking good ūüėČ

Weekending IX

Hi Guys!

Sorry for going a little M.I.A last week, with all the traveling, overcoming a cold/allergies & the time change I could not get my act together to do much more than the necessary stuff.

Lets flashback to a weekend ago and our last trip to Michigan for a month! We headed back to Ann Arbor for a weekend of fun.

Saturday we did some wedding stuff, like have our 90 day meeting with our venue, meet with the Priest who will be marrying us and work on our invitations. While it was nice & fun to check things off the never ending “wedding to do list” it was also¬†very stressful and slightly dramatic. All I can say is I am glad it is over!!

Weekending IX

Saturday night we headed to an event for my sisters school. They have a silent auction every year and since we were in town we went out to support… or just eat & drink. The theme was masquerade so my step-mom got some fun masks for us all to rock. There was a¬†lot of things being auctioned off, both through a live & silent auction.

No wine for the Pregnant lady = more wine for me ūüėČ

It was a nice time but the most memorable moment was my brother-in-law who was¬†desperate to win a years worth of unlimited car-washes. He was in a (silent) bidding war with a few other anxious car-washers and at the last minute he thought he lost the one bid so quickly signed his name on the other set of car washes being auctioned. As they were counting down 1…0 I yelled “ERICH NO!!! YOU GOT IT” and at the buzzer he quickly scratched his name off the second sheet. However we weren’t sure if he had just won¬†two¬†of the same prize or if they would honor the fact that he scratched his name off. Needless to say the rest of the night he was slightly on edge, and worried that he just doubled his bid. Thankfully at the end of the night he only had to buy the one action item he wanted. PHEW!

Sunday morning my step-mom & I finished going through the invitations so I could mail them off then I headed to my sisters second baby shower. My mom’s side of the family threw my sister a shower which was a really nice time. My grandma made a blanket for the baby with all of the handprints of our family members (aunts & uncles & cousins) and we showered my sister with lots of love for the munchkin that is about to change her life! My cousins had a lot of fun planning the games, I’ll spare you the details but to paraphrase…. they were interesting & creative!

Then it was time to head back to Illinois for a week of catch up!

Flash forward to Friday… Brent & my first weekend in seemingly¬†forever where our plans were minimal and they¬†didn’t include 8 hours of driving! Friday night we enjoyed dinner of roasted salmon & roasted shaved brussel sprouts. It was a yummy & relaxing night at home and knowing that on Saturday we had zero obligations was amazing!

Linking up with Katie on this Marvelous Monday!

Saturday we had a pretty relaxing day of going to the gym, updating our Crate & Barrel gift registry, window shopping and grocery shopping. We skipped going out for St. Patricks day in Chicago so instead we made a nice dinner of grilled steak & roasted baby eggplant and enjoyed some wine and a dutch apple pie to celebrate Pi Day! It was a really nice and relaxing Saturday… Just what the doctor ordered!

Yesterday I had plans to meet Katie for yoga & breakfast. It was a GREAT yoga class, I swear the teacher knew I had a slight catch in my shoulder because she focused on shoulders and utilizing the musculature appropriately the whole class. I am notoriously hard on fitness professionals who name the wrong muscles or muscle actions, it really eats at me and I lose a lot of faith in their abilities, this yoga instructor did an amazing job at explaining & naming the muscles and their actions!!! She definitely got a gold star! I also loved that she moved the class to the wall and we did some inversion work, I am still a ways from perfecting any inversions but it was nice to work on them with direction in a class, rather than from my phone at home! Breakfast was super good & so nice to catch up with Katie!

The rest of Sunday was spent food prepping, working on our centerpieces, & going to church. Ya’ll i live an¬†exciting life when I am not in a car ūüėČ

Oh & I updated our chalkboard. I am pretty sure the last time I updated it was¬†before¬†Thanksgiving, the qoute was applicable all year ;)… I have been wanting to update this to a wedding countdown for WEEKS but never got around to it. So now that we are¬†90 days away I decided it was time!

Now off to enjoy this amazing weather!

Weekending VI

Happy Groundhogs Day!!!

On occasion Brent & I have random conversations… okay not occasionally, regularly. Last night we had a Feb 2nd conversation that looked something like this.
Brent: Do you know what tomorrow is?
Me: uhhh Monday?! UGH!
Brent: Nope its Groundhogs day!
Me: Well he’s definitely going to see his shadow, or whatever he has to see to tell us its more winter.
Brent: Do you know what Groundhogs day means 6 weeks until spring!
Me: NOPE Groundhogs day means 6 day until my BIRTHDAY!!!!
Brent: yeah yea… back to the game!

Yep Spring trumps my birthday in Brent’s world!

This weekend I thought we would be scrambling on Saturday to get our life in order, prep for the week ahead and do our whole weekend regulars as Sunday would be filled with a church meeting & drive to Rock Falls for the super bowl with friends.

Weekending VI

We got up bright & early on what was a surprisingly nice Saturday morning and hit the gym. I did a serious number to my arms during a good bi & trip lifting day followed by 30 minutes on the spin bike. I do not enjoy cardio equipment, I find myself extremely bored and unmotivated after about 2.5seconds on the machines and usually quit after 5 minutes. But I really wanted to spin out my muscles, work up a bit of a sweat and if nothing else just get my heart rate up before heading home. So I decided to take the advice of a fellow FB friend who mentioned that she had been listening to podcasts while on the treadmill/elliptical/stairmaster and turned into The Jillian Michaels Show. I became addicted to the JM show when driving to rockford in the fall and haven’t listened to it in a long time, as my commutes are under 20 minutes. Listening to the JM show definitely made the time on the bike go by fast, however I needed to amp up my resistance and work!

After the gym we came home and I set out to meal plan for the week. We finished our 24DC last week but are trying to keep up the extra healthy eating until our wedding, obviously life will happen and we will indulge on occasion but we both felt so good after doing this challenge that we want to keep up the momentum to meet some of our goals that we haven’t met yet.¬†Linked recipes are all from PaleOMG’s amazing website, I modified all recipes to fit our panty including using flax seeds rather than almond meal and using her Zucchini Fritter recipe to create¬†my own zucchini-carrot fritter cups.¬†

We hit the grocery store with EVERYONE else in Arlington Heights, obviously 1:30 on a saturday is NOT the best time to go to the grocery store. It was packed! We got home and neither of us had any motivation to do anything, and we decided that our plans to drive to Rock Falls on sunday were probably going to fall through as superstorm Linus was to make a snowy appearance. We snuggled up on the couch at the late hour of 3pm and binged watched some Criminal Minds.

Backstory is about a week or two ago I started to turn the channel to CM when I couldn’t find anything else to watch, there is ALWAYS Criminal Minds on, so Brent decided to download the whole first season and start watching from the beginning to “see the character development”

Weekending VI

After a few episode of Criminal Minds, a glass or two of wine, we decided we needed something to eat other than cashews. So we headed to Target to find food. Why target you ask, I do not know! After not finding anything appealing at Target we hit the next best thing, Chipotle! Lets just say the Chipotle was the highlight of Saturday night which ended probably at 9pm.

Sunday we got up bright and early to head to a special mass service. We knew there was a lot of snow to fall over night so we got up a little bit early to give us some extra time. I was excited to go outside and actually see some significant snow on the ground. While I am ready for spring it was pretty!!

ALL THE RUBBERMAIDS!

ALL THE RUBBERMAIDS!

After church we came home and I got to cooking for the week. I did not expect to food prep for as long as I did but before I knew it the Super Bowl was starting and I was just finishing 6 hours of meal preparation. SO MUCH FOOD fills our refrigerator it makes me so happy and anxiety free to know that we have enough food prepared for the whole week.

A well deserved glass of wine, followed by a cookie!!

Then it was time to sit down with a glass of wine and some roasted salmon to watch the game. Congratulations Patriots & Mr. Michigan Tom Brady!

A surprisingly relaxing but fun filled weekend filled with some marvelous snow!

A Marvelous Christmas 2014

I can’t believe its the last Monday of 2014 and that in the past year I got engaged, moved twice, changed jobs, changed cities & changed just about everything but my hair color. 2014 has definitely been a year of change, luckily mostly for the good!

MIMM

But before I go too far down memory lane lets talk about the second to last week of December and our Marvelous Christmas!!!! Last Tuesday after a long days work we headed to Michigan for a long weekend filled with lots of food & family.
