I am SOO excited about todays post, I have been listening to Jillian Michaels Podcast for the past year and she always raves about BuluBox so when I was given the opportunity to try a box I jumped on it!

I have tried other monthly subscription boxes before and I loved getting to try a couple new things each month without having to leave my house, search the store and then hope that I would like it. This is true with beauty supplies, clothing and especially healthy snacks & health food products.

I was SUPER excited about the Quest Protein packets, I have heard so many positive things about quest’s protein powders but have never tried it out because I am reallllyyyyyy picky about my protein and would hate to buy a canister of protein just to not like it. Well I am happy to say that the Quest Peanut Butter Powder was amazinggggg!!!!

I used my first packet to make a protein pancake one morning. It’s a thicker powder than my usual protein so it made my pancake extra fluffy and delicious! I even shapchatted the process, which is mighty tricky with 1 hand 🙂 If you missed it heres how to make the pancake:

4 egg whites whisked together with the protein powder, add in 1-2tbsp ground flax & 1/4cup oats, combine them all together to make a consistent batter. Pour mixture into a preheated pan with coconut oil & cook until golden brown. I topped mine with 2tbsp of natural peanut butter!

My other favorite product in my BuluBox was the Movit Gummies. It was like eating a gummy bear with a boost of energy. I ate them in 2 servings before two different workouts because I wanted to see if they changed my workout at all. I didn’t notice a HUGE energy surge but I did feel like they gave me a little boost.

I think they would be great during a long run, 1/2 marathon or any other endurance race when you need a bit of sugar & an energy boost without drinking anything.

The concept of the Mediterra bar was on point! I think there are way too many snack bars that are loaded with sweeteners and chocolate when sometimes you crave something savory. I however was not a huge fan of the sundried tomato & basil flavor that I tested, plus I am not a huge bar eater as of late. I think the concept is amazing and would definitely be something I try again especially if I needed a snack on the road or when traveling.

The two products I have not tried yet are the Yerba Prima Fiber & the anti-itch cream. I am excited to try the fiber drink as it is Apple spice flavored and I just imagine it delicious on a cool fall day like a hot apple cider. And well I don’t have anything itchy to try out the itch cream however I can tell you that it has a pleasant menthol scent and has a nice texture on your skin. I just cannot attest to its anti-itch ability.

Overall I LOVED getting to try the BuluBox and learning about new healthy treats and products that I probably wouldn’t try otherwise. I think this would be a great gift for someone who is looking to make small changes in their diet or lifestyle but are afraid to take the lunge and buy products based off of other peoples advice!

Ahh I am so happy its Friday, this week has been a long one with the anticipation of our move this weekend looming over my head. With all the madness going on in my life the past few weeks my workouts have been a bit all over the place. Between wanting to continue strengthening my running to wanting to work on my strength through GPP I have felt very torn. I want to just go to the gym and get my workout on but my focus has been elsewhere, thus leading to more half completed workouts and distracted selfie taking than actual lifting.

I decided that I could use a change. Thankfully this change came perfectly timed with my opportunity to review the Flip Belt! A new workout accessory always makes workouts a bit better. #amiright?

The Flip Belt is primarily designed and used for runners. It is a belt with slits in the front so you can slid your personal items in it and not lose them or have to hold on to them while you’re running. Basically is a genius belt!

I hated running with my armband. It was hot, uncomfortable, my headphone cord went all over the place and it often left my arm feeling raw. With the FlipBelt I am able to string my headphone wire down my back and my arms are 100% free of distraction. #thankyou

I wore my FlipBelt on a few runs and seriously LOVED IT!!! I had a hard time deciding what size to order as my measurements were between two sizes but I went with the smaller size (and my pant size) and the belt fits perfectly!! there is enough stretch that it is not too snug but it doesn’t shift or slide at all when I run. Again I put my phone in the front and flipped then slid the belt so my phone was on my back side. It felt great like this for my all of my runs. I seriously have zero running complaints!!!

Typically I do not listen to music when I lift, because the gym I workout at has music in the background and because I never have anywhere to put my phone. Due to my recent workout distractions I decided to wear my FlipBelt during Tuesdays workout.

I was worried that my headphones would get in the way, or the belt would restrict my motion but it absolutely didn’t. I LOVED having the headphones going down my back and didn’t feel distracted or any discomfort the whole workout.

My last FlipBelt perk would be that it has a key clip which doubles as a Ring Holder. I don’t know about you but I hate working out with my engagement ring on. I hate getting it scratched up on the bars or weights so I take it off for each workout. Typically I put my ring in my ring box & lock it up, but last week I forgot my box at home. I found the key clip and tried it on my ring. It worked perfectly, I felt safe knowing my ring was secured on my hip and wasn’t getting wrecked on the weights.

1. Color – I didn’t mention it but how can you NOT love the hot pink? they have tons of fun colors for everyone.
2. Fit like I said I was worried about the size and I can 100% say this fits true to shorts size.
3. Key Clip – while I am sure it would be great for making sure your key doesn’t slide around it is FANTASTIC for keeping your precious ring in place
4. Running Comfort – during any distance run your FlipBelt will stay in place and be so comfortable you won’t even know its there. Plus it keeps your hands and arms free of distraction.

Keep It Tight with ProCompression

As a Physical Therapist working with people of all different fitness levels, athletic desires and aspirations I get asked a LOT of questions about the newest and “best” fitness gear. One of the questions I get asked most often is “compression therapy” via socks, shorts and sleeves. I have a hard time recommending, supporting or refuting fitness gear that I have not personally tried myself. I just do not feel comfortable because with my luck that patient/friend/family member is going to come back and blame me for something working or not working for them.

So as you can guess when I got the opportunity to try and review my own pair of ProCompression socks or sleeves as a part of my partnership with FitApproach, I jumped on the bandwagon.


I know most people used compression socks/sleeves to help recover from endurance running/training events but thats not (always) my cup of tea. I mean endurance running to me is 3 miles not 20 and endurance swimming or biking just doesn’t happen. I am much more of a lift heavy and get the run over with like yesterday (although I am learning to love to run), so I wanted to try the socks with MY workouts.

First I wore my compression socks during my 5k run last week. I felt a huge difference during my run, I felt that my legs felt fresher longer and I did not get calf cramps as quickly. Also the rest of the day my legs felt great!

Next I wore the compression socks during my GPP workout this morning. The workout included a lot of leg strengthening exercises and I was excited and interested in seeing how the socks made me feel during a strength workout. Again they made me feel a bit fresher through my workout but overall I did not find them extremely beneficial. I will say they were comfortable and if nothing else provided my shins some protection when I was lifting.

p.s. when you go heavy on thrusters with a transition to walking lunges, you are likely to fail… FACT when you go heavy on thrusters for walking lunges and video tape it you will fail twice! {{sorry about the distortion, promise I am not an oompaloompa!}}

I have not worn my compression socks post-workout for recovery. Since I workout in the morning and then go straight to work they are not the best fashion statement. I do plan on doing a run and wearing them after my run to see if they help reduce some of the DOMS I experience in my calves.

Fuel Your Endurance Training Better – Vega Sport Review

I had a semi-busy weekend unpacking, organizing and having some self-love relaxation time for myself. It’s nice to have our new apartment starting to feel a little more like home.

Saturday I hit the gym late with Brent and knew I needed some pre-workout energy that wouldn’t keep me up at night. Since I typically workout in the morning hours if I take pre workout to late in the day my brain won’t shut off at night. I quickly grabbed my Vega Sport Energizer and knew I would have a great workout.

The battle of workout headbands is one that I have been fighting since I was in youth sports. I could never get the things to stay on my head, or stay in place during sports. They were more hassle then they were worth. Bondi Band

I was sent a Popular Saying Bondi Band, I was a little nervous about the thickness of the band as extremely thick headbands look funny on me.

I tried to fold it under a bit but after a few minutes of workout that didn’t last, BUT the band did. I did have some “slippage” but not once in my hour long workout of burpees, squats, pushup, rowing and sit-ups did my Bondi Band fall off. I had to adjust the position a few times but like I said it stayed in place.
I wore it a few times to the gym last week and loved it! Like I said it was a bit wide for my head but it did its job. Even after a very sweaty workout I had little sweat dripping into my eyes or face! #win

Although the thickness was not my favorite I would definitely buy a Bondi Band for myself. I loved the material, the weight and the saying was even a fun addition to my wardrobe!

I used my first stick in cold water before the start of a long work day. I normally drink plain water and am sensitive to different flavors or tastes in my water so the addition of the Lyft Stick was a little too sweet and unnatural to me. I added in a herbal tea bag and made an “iced” tea which was great. I loved the addition of flavor and the little boost of energy that I got from the Lyft Stick. I did not notice any extreme energy boost but rather a long-lasting energy Lyft that helped me power through a busy morning and meeting.

I used the second stick in a Starbucks half green and half passion-fruit iced tea. This was the perfect combination for me. The iced tea provided a refreshing flavor and the Lyft stick added again a long-lasting energy Lyft all morning. I really enjoyed the long lasting energy boost that the Lyft stick provided without the feeling of a huge caffeine spike.


I usually drink a coffee or tea 2-3 times per week and have a pre-workout 5days a week before my morning workouts so I would say that I take in a good amount of caffeine (without really realizing this before this post). With that being said these energy sticks were not as “strong” as my normal caffeine intake but they did the job. I did not feel at all jittery or overly energized rather I felt that I had some long term energy.

These would be a great addition to my work desk for those days that I need a little boost but don’t need to spend the $$$ on a Starbucks drink. I also love that they can be added into ANY drink hot or cold. I think my next stick will be used with a smoothie 🙂

Yoga + Creativity & GIVEAWAY!

I am loving the spring weather and longer nights. I feel so much more productive and that there is so much more time in the day to do things I never feel I have time for, like cooking dinners, blogging and spending time practicing Yoga.

In addition to being the creative mind, designer & photographer behind Yoga+Creativity she blogs at The Yoga Emporium, writes for  DoYouYoga, Huffington Post and some other amazing publications.

Y+C is broken down into segments including an Intro which goes through vocabulary, definitions and tips to being successful. I LOVED this section of the book, as a fearful “yogi” having a good understanding of what I was getting myself into was really helpful to me.

She also goes through her 4 governing principles which again helped me feel comfortable turning the next page and moving forward with my self-exploration in this world of yoga. The principles are simple but powerful which is again perfect for me!

Then she explains how the book can be used and how you can get the most out of the experience. I first chose the 1 day exploration and plan on continuing with a more regular regimented program. I love to have choices so this was again a big bonus to me!


The rest of the book was separated into songwords, MOVEMENT, drawing & a closing. In each section (song, words, movement and drawing) she showed all the items you would need, started with an explanation of the Governing Energy, Intention & Chakra. Then she went through the practice of yoga, including a step by step explanation along with a time guideline for each pose/position. This again helped amateur me find my best yogi and connect with the principles presented.

I still feel silly doing yoga but with the help of Lacey I feel more empowered with the tools and tips that she gave me. In addition to this beautiful book with step by step instructions! I would have definitely spent the $20 on this book, Lacey becomes your personal yoga instructor and helps you truly connect with your best self.
