My 5 Favorite AdvoCare Products!

Hey Guys!

I know you have all heard me talk about my love for Spark & AdvoCare products but I have never really said which products I LOVE and why. AdvoCare has a multitude of amazing products that are available and have difference purposes and while I love them all there are 5 that are my GO TO!

  1. SPARK

Are you sick of me talking about Spark yet? Well if you are than you obviously aren’t drinking it because lets be serious it’s my savior each day. I flipping love the stuff, and love that it gives me energy and extra motivation during my long days or during that mid-day slump. I love that there is no jittery side effect or post-spark lull like you can get with coffee or other caffeinated drinks. ALSO if you are a carbonated pop fan & can’t imagine losing your POP than add some Spark to a La Croix and you will be in heaven! But it is good enough without the La Croix, I promise!

2. Rehydrate

Rehydrate has been my best friend this summer. I have been feeling like I need something extra to keep me going at the gym or feel super exhausted at the end of the workout if I am not drinking rehydrate during/after a hard workout. When I do drink rehydrate I have very few post-workout fatigue headaches, minimal post-workout exhaustion and usually feel pretty good. Don’t get me wrong you don’t feel like a million bucks, I mean you just worked out, but you don’t feel half as terrible as you might’ve!


Okay this gets caps & an exhlamation point because thats how I feel when I take catalyst. Serious this stuff is like lipo in a bottle… well for me I guess its more like a chisel for the muscles that are close to poppin’ (that pesky belly tire is still hanging around 😛 ). Honestly Catalyst is amazing, it helps your body repair and maintain muscle mass because it contains all your branch-chain-amino-acids. I could easily during BCAA’s but honestly I think they taste like garbage and can’t stand drinking another thing everyday, but I love that I can take a supplement pill which allows my body all the benefits of BCAA’s along with the added benefits that Catalyst has to offer, because its way more than just the BCAA’s.

4. O2 Gold

GOLD is an understatement! I LOVE this stuff & so does Brent. When we know that we are going to do any HIIT or heavy heart rate pumping workouts we alwayssssss pop an O2 Gold. O2 Gold helps your body facilitate the use of oxygen & helps the body adapt to stress. When you pop an O2 Gold about an hour before you do your cardio/HIIT/run your body will be primed to utilize the oxygen you are sending to your muscles. I notice a huge improvement in my breathing pattern, I don’t (usually) find that I am panting or struggling for breath but rather I find that I am still breathing hard but not labored. Similarly to Rehydrate I notice that I can recover from my workout so much quicker with so much less fatigue.

5. OmegaPlex

Last but not least is OmegaPlex! Prior to AdvoCare I had only heard amazing things about how Fish Oil is amazing for you and all the health benefits, but to be honest I couldn’t stand the stuff, so I figured that I would be alright and was eating well enough to get me through. WELL my first 24DC came and I used the OmegaPlex but didn’t think much of it. But then last year when I started to be more intentional with my product usage I noticed a difference. Not a huge difference but honestly I noticed my joints didn’t bother me as much after working out. What I LOVE about OmegaPlex is its more than just a fish oil, there are other great nutrients in the supplement which means that ONE pill = many benefits, and I am all about that!

WIAW – AdvoCare Edition

Happy Wednesday!!!

Today is Day 24 of my THIRD AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge. I love this challenge and each time I try to do something a little different which always leads to different results. I LOVE to challenge myself and the foods that I eat to help myself continue to find the best & optimal health situation.

Yesterday actually remembered to take a picture of (most of) my food that I ate throughout the day. This is a pretty typical day of eating for me the past 24 days so hopefully it helps you see that when doing the 24DC you still get to eat real filling and DELICIOUS foods, nothing boring over here.

My day started with a Spark+Rehydrate combo along with 3 catalyst’s before my workout. Then I headed to the gym for a shoulder workout & a quick 4 round for time finisher that I will be sharing on Friday. When I got home I took my pre-breakfast supplements and whipped up a Chocolate Mocha Meal Replacement Shake.

The Chocolate Mocha is really good, basically it tastes like yummy chocolate milk. I wasn’t feeling the plain MRS shake so I mixed it up with a few scoops of ground flax seeds & a tablespoon of cherry juice to give it some extra flavor. I forgot to take a picture, sorry!

The MRS shakes hold me over for about an hour & a half but then I get a bit hungry and need a snack. I grabbed a few dates and a small handful of cashews to snack on when I was driving to a meet with a few coworkers for a brainstorming session. I LOVE dates & cashews they have definitely become one of my favorite foods, a healthy treat that makes me feel like I am cheating!

On my way to the clinic from our brainstorming session I snacked on a pear. I usually have a couple pieces of fruit a day to help keep me full. This was my first piece of fresh fruit. Bosc pears are currently our favorite.

Lunch was a usual bowl of lots of veggies mixed with some sort of protein. This week I sautéed mushrooms and then wilted kale-arugula-spinach in their juices and piled all the veggies in a big bowl. For the protein I made pulled pork pibil from StupidEasyPaleo which is amazing, you need to make it now and threw that in with the veggies when I heated it all up.

Mid-Afternoon I got the snack bug so I snacked on an orange and some roasted carrots, parsnips & cauliflower in-between treating patients.

On my way home from work I am always a bit hungry so I ate my THIRD piece of fruit (this is rare!) and had an apple. I think this was the best apple ever, it was the perfect combination of crisp, sweet and tart!

For dinner I had 3 cabbage rolls with a side of healthy nachos?

I had to laugh at these “nachos” or Ants on a Log because I think it epitomized the idea of healthy eating. So many people when I tell them I am doing a healthy eating challenge they immediately say “so what you just eat vegetables?” YEP!! I eat lots of veggies but to be honest the Avocado goes with everything and celery is the perfect boat for something yummy!

Some nights for dessert I will have a few dates with cashew butter on them or a few energy balls, OR a combo of them both if I am feeling crazy!

Chocolate Cashew Coconut Butter

Alright kids I have another tasty treat for you guys!

I swear the past week I have been loving the blender and blending up some tasty, healthy, sin-less treats! On Saturday Brent & I spent the morning in a marriage prep course and when we got home I was really craving an apple with some peanut butter, but I knew peanut butter wasn’t on our Whole30 challenge guide and we were trying to avoid high fat foods. PLUS peanut butter triggers my cravings for more peanut butter and more of everything is never a good thing.

I decided to try my hand at making my own nut butter. I have seen soooooooo many homemade nut butter recipes lately which look tantalizingly easy to make that I knew I had to try it myself.

With Brent’s watchful eye I broke out my Ninja blender, dug out some cashews, flax seed & dark chocolate cocoa powder and went to work. I pulsed, blended, scraped down, pulsed, blended, scraped… repeated this process a handful of times until the cashews started to form a nut butter consistency. I then added in some melted coconut oil to help the nuts get moving, this was the golden ticket!

That coconut oil made everything smooth and pretty!! I added a bit of cinnamon & cayenne to pump up the flavor even more… and boom… my first nut butter was made!


Now I will say that the coconut oil that we used (Organic Coconut Oil from COSTCO) has a very distinct coconut flavor so this cashew butter was more of a coconut cashew butter than a pure nut butter & it was 100x better the next day after the flavors melded than right away when we were attacking it with a delicious honeycrisp!

Go break out your blender or food processor and made this delicious nut butter spread now! It requires a little time but you can make your nut butter and eat it too in less than 15 minutes!

Weekending III

Happy Monday!!!

I have to say that I am not super excited about having to work a FULL week this week. It was really nice to have a day off in the middle of last week & three days off the week before. Oh Holidays why do you have to go by so quickly!?

Friday night we watched Biggest Loser and I worked on a little DIY craft which I will be sharing with you guys later this week. My fit female friends will LOVE it!

Saturday started like most do with open gym at EPC. There is something about open gym and getting to work on different moves that is a lot of fun. The chill vibe of the gym and just being able to hangout, chat and throw down some heavy weight is something that I really love about our CrossFit gym & community. Our Olympic lift workout for the day was snatches and power clean & jerks. I worked on both for a while getting a 95# snatch & 105# C&J then I decided to work on my biggest weaknesses. Pull Ups & Handstands.

I did rounds of pull up negatives with a band (started with green then moved to blue) holding chin above bar for 10-20seconds then in super slow motion lowered to the bottom. During my “rest” I did a handstand & held the position for a while (I couldn’t see the clock) until my arms got jello-y. I focused on getting my core tight and body in more of a straight line. I continued this cycle of pull up, handstand for 6-8 rounds making sure I took some good rest after the handstand.

Concurring my fear of falling on my head during a handstand and being able to start focusing on the skill of the movement was more exciting than I thought it would be. I  still need to get the confidence of finding the wall each time but I no longer fear falling or killing myself, which is AWESOME!

Last week I mentioned to Brent that I wanted to start making a conscious effort to have a date night each week (or at least every other week). We spend a lot of time together but some times I don’t think it is the most quality time, so by focusing on having a date night where we can connect, talk and do something fun we will be hitting all those key relationship factors!

Sometimes I take the extra time to actually put on makeup and wear cute clothing... and I kinda like when I do :)

So Saturday night we got our date night cloths on and headed to Coopers Hawk for dinner & wine. We are Wine of the Month members but didnt want a white wine with dinner so we swapped our wine for a Malbec (Brents favorite wine ever). The Malbec was delicious and so was dinner! I ordered the Soy Ginger Salmon & Brent got the Jambalaya both dishes were amazing and so filling.

After dinner we headed to the tasting room to taste the January wines. We got to sample 8 different wines and surprisingly enjoyed most of them, even the whites! We are definitely a red house hold! We were chatting with the bar tender and asked if they saved the corks, this landed us with a big bag full of corks, WIN!!!

Sunday was a chill day, sorta. We are starting our second (my third) AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge & so Sunday included a trip to Costco & the grocery store followed by a few hours of meal prep.

I decided to add a little extra challenge by including the principles of the Whole30 (Paleo based diet) to our 24DC. Brent & I eat pretty clean during the week, with the exceptions of work demons and weekends, so I wanted to give our bodys a bit of a change and challenge. I think it is really important to change up your diet every once and a while, it helps your see bigger changes in your body and gives you more variety in life.



I intend on sticking to the Whole30 principles pretty closely, with the exception of one sauce I made this week with peanut butter (sorry $12 on sunflower seed butter just wasn’t going to happen when i have some PB in the cupboard!) For this week to give myself a boost I am following the week 1 meal plan by Melissa. She has a killer website with SO MUCH Whole30 knowledge, and while I could use my brain and pinterest, I decided to stick to someone who was successful and let it go from there. I did make some modifications to the meals & mashed up my own stuff, because following a recipe to a T is way too easy!

Heres our meal plan for the week:

Carnitas Power Bowls (sautéed veggies, spaghetti squash & Melissa’s Carnitas)

AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge Results

Man it feels like forever since we finished our 24 Day Challenge! I had every intention of getting this post up last week, when it seemed most appropriate but then my body decided that it needed to take the reins …. and by take the reins I mean completely shut down. If you were on my phone call with Lauren on Thursday night you would understand! This cough is intense friends!!


Ok back to AdvoCare! The 24 Day Challenge was EVERYTHING I could have asked for and more! I remember feeling great after my first cleanse back in 2012, but I didn’t weigh, measure or take photos so I was excited to see how the challenge went with doing all of the above.
And it did NOT disappoint!!! I am happy to say that while I was not looking to lose weight I was able to drop 8 pounds while still EATING real food, NEVER feeling hungry & having a ton of energy to workout & live my life!

I was talking to a friend about Advo while in Max Phase and during our conversation I said to her “this isn’t a magic button, the products aren’t magic & the theory isn’t magic but at the end of the day it’s 24 days of investing in yourself!”
I truly believe this. While the Advocare products are ON POINT they are just products, and the challenge is a bunch of high quality products bundled up with a pretty bow that says “eat healthy!!!” And shows you HOW. While Brent would argue that you can go buy Metamucil & fish oils at the store and “create your own” challenge I would argue that NO ONE would do that! It’s a fine idea but knowing that you invested that money into the challenge makes you invest yourself into the full 24 days and at the end of it you just commuted that $200 to making you live a potentially longer & definitely healthier life.

While we had ate very similarly to the challenge “during the week” we would often slack during the weekend, enjoying meals out, beer & alcohol and indulging in sweets and deserts. The challenge did what it was intended to do and challenged me to make a healthier choice when I was out, it challenged me to pick the meal that would make me FEEL the best, not the meal that looked the best, or the most filling. I often find myself at a restaurant thinking “will that fill me up” when in reality the portions are likely too big and the amount of crap in the food is too high so why not just pick the best option for me!?! It was nice to stay focused and CHOSE a heathy and delicious meal when we were out, stick to water rather than beer which kicked my craving for sweets at night.

I feel HEALTHIER & HAPPIER about my body after doing the cleanse and am excited to help YOU reach that next level of optimal health that you’re looking for too!!
A few questions/comments that I get a lot are:
1. It doesn’t look like the products are anything different or special… YEP YOURE RIGHT!! they aren’t, however they are composed of high quality ingredients and designed specifically to perform at an optimal level. Plus they are designed to work together and work for you! but you’re right you can get a fiber drink and a fish oil at the store… but that is only part of the big picture! 
2. I can get this stuff at the grocery store for less money…. again you’re right!!! I said it earlier, you could go to the store and buy a fiber drink, a vitamin pack, a pre-workout energy drink, a meal replacement shake (not filled with junk) and focus on a healthy diet and would likely be somewhat successful. You would probably miss, or skip, the probiotic, the fish oil, the amino acids found in the Catalyst (an optional add on) and likely would find yourself quitting your “challenge” within a few days because the commitment is not there. Like I said earlier the challenge is a commitment to yourself to live a healthier life for 24 days. YOU deserve that and so much more!!!
3. I already eat clean… yep so do/did I, but I still lost 8-10 pounds on the challenge and still learned a heck of a lot about myself, and I have been doing this “clean eating” stuff for almost 3 years. Your body strives off of a change and you will still find yourself doing something better after doing the challenge. PLUS like I said earlier you will find yourself NOT getting that hamburger and limiting those cravings which you can often sink into.

Friday Favorites

woohoo its Friday!!!! & I am excited to pop in with a few favorites!!!

Tonight we are hitting the road and driving to Michigan for the weekend. I am super excited to go home and have a weekend of fun. We will be going to the Michigan vs. Minnesota game on saturday, and hoping for a Michigan WIN! It will also be our first weekend off challenge and let me tell you I am excitedddd for some Michigan Beer #hellooberon!

On Sunday I have plans to go to a Bridal show with my step mom & hopefully sister. I am excited to get some ideas, talk to local vendors and hopefully win some prizes!!!

Here are some things I am loving today…

1. These Mizuno Wave Evo Ferus running shoes… I have been needing/wanting new running shoes for foreverrrrr but have been waiting for the right time and shoe to come around. When I saw that Zulily was having a special on Mizuno shoes I had to check it out. These Evo’s look like exactly the type of shoe that I have been looking for. I hope they fit and are comfy!!!!

2. Pants that are too loose!!! As you all well know I have been doing the AdvoCare 24 day challenge and because I am a bone-head I forgot to weigh myself day 0/1. I did weigh myself at day 14 and 24 (I’ll share later) but earlier this week I put on a pair of “Back Of The Closet Pants” and they fit perfectly, if not a little loose!!!

When you've had a stressful week & all you want is "soul food" but you're on #advocare24daychallenge fitting perfectly into your #backofthecloset work pants (you know you've got them!) is the BEST feeling ever!  Tomorrow is my last day on challenge and have been beyond loving how my body feels even through all this stress!!  Oh & I still was able to #treatmyself to some #advoapproved deliciousness that felt like a cheat!

When you’ve had a stressful week & all you want is “soul food” but you’re on #advocare24daychallenge fitting perfectly into your #backofthecloset work pants (you know you’ve got them!) is the BEST feeling ever!

Can't do a ring dip... YET!!! But I can do a hold... When I don't ask #coachjosh to take my picture... I #love that I can laugh at myself and then get back to business! I tell patients everyday "don't say CANT, tell yourself that you CAN and then you WILL" this is what I tell myself each day I face a challenge. It may feel like you CANT overcome the obstacle but you CAN it just might take some time, practice or diligence but I promise you WILL get there!

Then we worked on ring dips, which I am not nearly ready for #helloweaktriceps but we did work on our hold in the locked out position. I was really surprised I was able to jump up and hold myself steady for 10-20 seconds, so I went an grabbed my phone #hellosocialmedia, well of course after I grab my phone and ask my coach I have a heck of a time holding the position.

Thankfully I can laugh at myself and we got a good picture 😉

4. My AdvoCare Challengers finishing their first 24 day challenge and committing to a healthier lifestyle. Two of the three ladies that I did this challenge with are taking on Spark and QUITTING diet pop, and I could not be more excited for them both to take that huge step! I cannot wait to hear how the rest of their challenge went and hopefully share that with you guys here soon too!

5. I love a healthy snack that tastes like a serious treat. It makes indulgences 100% better!!

Meal Replacement Shake — We ordered the Vegetarian Dark Chocolate & Milk Chocolate. They both are delicious but this day I chose the Vegetarian and blended it with unsweetened almond milk and cinnamon, it was amazinggggggg!

Snack #1 — I generally have 2-3 snacks a day depending on my work schedule and hunger. My first snack this day was an apple, I would say most days I have an apple in the morning to help tide me over until lunch.

Pre-Lunch & Lunch MNS Pack — well I hope the AdvoPolice are not watching/reading because I often take my before lunch and lunch vitamins at the same time because I frankly do not have time to remember before. PLUS my body is known to have trouble digesting vitamins and I often get very nauseous from them if I take them on an empty stomach so yeah… its what works for me friends!

Lunch — I try to vary what I have for lunch each day while my meals may be similar due to my food prepping I will flip flop lunch and dinner or mix & match meals so that I feel like I am still getting variety and do not get overly bored with each meal. This lunch was a shredded mexican chicken which was delicious however my crockpot chicken always tastes the same. WHY is that??

Snack #2 Spark + Food — this snack was a bowl of roasted veggies and a spark. I do not always have 2 sparks a day but some days I need that extra energy and this tuesday was definitely one of those days! I do have a rule to not take Spark after 4pm because I will have trouble sleeping at night, hello constantly running brain (I do not feel jittery or buzzed just my brain won’t go to sleep!).

So there you have it! You can still eat real food and be healthy and on a challenge. You do not have to “starve” yourself or limit your intake so severely that you feel deprived. I never once felt like I was missing something through this whole day. Also most days I have 1/2 a grapefruit after my meal replacement shake & some days for my 3rd snack I will have almonds.

I will do a full AdvoCare recap post after I finish on Thursday with before/after photos which terrifies me!!!

AdvoCare Cleanse (24 Day Challenge)


First thank you for all your kind words after my post on Thursday. I have a lot of thoughts that I cannot wait to share with you all but by the end of the day I think I am so tired I just can’t seem to form coherent sentences.

I also am SUPERRR excited to announce that I was selected to be a FitFluential Ambassador. This has definitely been a goal of mine since starting blogging and joining this fitness community and I cannot be more excited and proud to be a member of this group of inspiring and influential fitness freaks like me! I would not be there without all of YOU (and a little birdy who told me to just do it!). So thank you all!!!!

What I really want to talk about is my AdvoCare challenge. As y’all know I started the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge on September 2nd with a small group of friends PLUS all the amazing advo-challengers on Facebook. I was really excited about this challenge for two reasons…

1. my first challenge (read about that here) was so successful and really helped me feel my absolute best, including kicking all my cravings and starting this amazing healthy living lifestyle
2. performing the WHOLE challenge. Prior to participating in both challenges I consulted my GI doctor to make sure that my body was healthy enough to take on the different supplementation and inquire about the Cleanse portion of the challenge. The first time that I did the challenge I opted out of the cleanse phase, while maintaining to the diet restrictions I essentially performed 2 MAX phases. After talking with my GI this time around he told me that the research is inconclusive, so I did my research on the different components & ingredients and I decided to go for the gusto.

Since we are now at Day 15 of 24 and over half way done, lets talk about Day 1-10. Those first few days were definitely the most challenging but also the easiest. What is it about a challenge that can completely change your mindset and get you 100% devoted? Well thats definitely how I felt the first 10 days.

I had heard from a friend that the fiber drink was rough and she recommended cutting it with 1/2 orange juice so that was my plan and it worked pretty well. When the citrus was mixed with FRESH 100% OJ  it just tasted like pulpy orange juice and wasn’t too bad.

We focused on eating minimal carbs, having fruits and veggies and lean proteins. I did have quinoa, oats (for breakfast) and sweet potatoes during the first 10 days which I know are all carby foods, but with our exercise routine I also knew we would need a little bit more which is why I chose this for us. Its what worked for us.

Besides food, I felt fantastic… I never had an energy lull (sleep related yes, food/diet related not at all) and felt better in all my cloths. I really believe you are what you eat and when you eat healthy for you foods everything about yourself feels better.

Now lets talk fiber drink… it isn’t the best thing every, but both Brent & I have mentioned in the past 4 days since stopping them, that we kinda miss them. It really helped “clear” you out without you running to the bathroom 😉 we both joked about 12-16hours after drinking the fiber drink we would have a “fiber poop” which is exactly what it is designed to do. It also helped me stay full longer and fended off all the carb cravings that I would have.

I am now enjoying the MAX phase which I will recap along with the entire experience once we are finished. I encourage you all to consider joining in the challenge kicking off October 6th. I cannot promise superhero bodies after the 24 days but I CAN promise that you will feel better, look better, and have more energy!

Weekend Recap & Meal Plan – AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge

Happy Labor Day!!

I am so grateful for this holiday and the extra day to catch up. This weekend has been a whirlwind and exhausting.

Saturday morning we got up BRIGHT and early and drove to pick up our UHaul. The next 12 hours were spent loading, packing, cleaning, driving, unloading, unpacking & collapsing. We finally stopped around 8pm and got some dinner with my family. It was a very long and exhausting day but I am glad we just got it all done and didn’t have to move two days in a row.

Weekend Review

Sunday was “unpack and figure out where everything is going to go” day. Our apartment looks better but man do we have a lot of stuff. We went from a HUGE condo, to a smaller (but still big) apartment, to an even SMALLER (and more expensive) place. So needless to say we have a lot of stuff and not a lot of space. #helloIKEA!

Today we are going to try out a new gym and then do some shopping. I will also be meal prepping, for the first time in what seems like eternity, because TOMORROW starts our AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge & I will be commuting.  I want to be 100% committed to the challenge and that means I need to meal prep as I will be driving/staying 1.5hours from our new apartment. ALSO since Brent is doing the challenge with me I want him to be as successful as possible, which means meal prep. #allthingsmealprep

I scoured the internet & pinterest for inspiration for this weeks meals. I am 100% nervous when starting anything that I won’t do it right, so I looked elsewhere for inspiration, hoping that next week I will have enough brain power to create some of my own!

Meal Plan

Heres what the week looks like meal wise:
Breakfast – Berry Quinoa Cups – hopefully adapting this recipe to fit my craving
Snacks – almonds, apples, carrots…
LunchesHummus Chicken & Veggies & Thai Zucchini Meatballs (with veggies!)
DinnersPesto Spaghetti Squash & Sweet Potato Quinoa Salad

Thats my plan… we will see if I stick to it once I get to cooking… 😉
